Dodgers Brighten Up the Sunshine Kids and Harley Riders Support Lupus International

Tune In This Sunday April 26, 2009 5AM-6AM on 710 ESPN Radio
The Sunshine Kids Foundation Brooks Tomb, Director, Western Region The Sunshine Kids Foundation and Katie Sparks, Sunshine Kids National SpokesKid.

Brooks came in studio to discuss The Sunshine Kids which is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. He tells us the activities are provided for children who are receiving treatment from hospitals in the Greater Houston area and western regional office in Las Angeles.

"We also invite the parents and siblings to attend these events. It is not just the child who is dealing with the diagnosis, it is the entire family."

The kids were treated to a first class trip to Dodger stadium. 35 Sunshine Kids went to see the Dodgers play the Giants. Sam's Club generously hosted a dinner before the game at the LA Police Academy in Elysian Park.

Katie Sparks is such a trooper! Though she wasn't feeling well she phoned in to tell us her experience as the Spokeskid for the foundation and how the Sunshine Kids activities has made such a positive difference for her and her family.

Established in 1982, we are committed to providing positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients. The Sunshine Kids provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for kids who are receiving cancer treatments in hospitals across North America. The funding sources for the Foundation include private, corporate, civic clubs, philanthropic foundations and memorial donations. How can you help? We're looking for folks who want to create activities for Sunshine Kids. Call Amy: (323) 769-2520 and she'll help you set it up!

The Lupus International Foundation was incorporated in 1983 as a 501(c)3 not for profit organization dedicated to the service and support of lupus patients, their families, their doctors, and the research community. We fundamentally began servicing the Greater Los Angeles Area and then spread throughout California. As we grew over the decades our outreach now goes out to patients all over the world. Our corporate headquarters are located in the heart of one of the leading medical research and biotech areas in the country in Southern California.

The primary function of Lupus International is to alleviate suffering for lupus patients through patient services, including education, early detection of undiagnosed cases through awareness promotion, and to eradicate lupus by supporting lupus research.

There is hope. Since 1983, we have provided thousands of people with educational and supportive services. We assist those affected by lupus to live fuller, more productive lives. For more information: Lupus International at (949) 833-2121 or at www.lupusinternatinal.com
